Welcome to SailEAST - The home of IRC short course racing on the east coast of England.

ABOUT SailEAST

History and Philosophy

SailEAST has been running since 1998. It may still be young by some measures, but it has certainly captured the imagination and enthusiasm of many yacht racers on the East Coast and further afield.

But where does the success lie? In essence, it is in the Series' simplicity.  Five weekend regattas, spaced evenly throughout the summer;  one in each of the main sailing areas of the East Coast;  consistently high standards of yacht racing and of socialising that comes with it;  low barriers to entry - SailEAST is an inclusive Series welcoming all, of whatever ability or experience.

Each weekends racing usually consists of 3 short course races of approximately 1-2 hours duration.  With committee boats starts encouraged where possible.

Venues

No two SailEAST venues are the same.  Over the course of the  SailEAST series there is racing in river, estuarial, inshore and coastal waters.

The venues are equally unique ashore - each host club has developing its own peculiar social event.  Take a look at the venue guide for details of moorings, accommodation, food, drink, travel and location maps.

Classes

The SailEAST series consists of 4 IRC racing classes.  See the handbook for the class breaks each year. The following trophies are presented for the winners of each class:

Overall:    Hutton Trophy

Class 1:    Dolphin Trophy

Class 2:    Orridge Cup

Class 3:    Gillingham Trophy

Class 4:    Gozzett Cup

Team Challenge: John Parker Challenge Trophy

Youth Challenge:   Youth Challenge Trophy

Other trophies are awarded for one design classes and engraved glassware is awarded to placed yachts in each class and overall.
